Landing in the Right Place: CamelGuard Technology that Underlies Functional Burp Cloths for Infant Reflux
CamelGuard technology is based on a combination of data-driven physical design and fabric. What separates our covers from other burp cloths or nursing covers is covering the places likely to be hit by reflux. Getting the drape, weight, softness, and absorbency just right has been years in the making.
Nearly every new parent knows the inconvenience of having infant reflux land on their clothing at an importune moment. New parents arm themselves with small burp cloths, receiving blankets, and even towels thrown across the shoulders to hopefully intercept that wet cannonball before it lands on them.
However, as new parents quickly find out, receiving blankets and burp cloths often miss the mark. Reflux lands down the front of the parent’s shirt, leaving a wet and smelly mess. Or the burp cloth bunches up. You lean over to pick up a dropped pacifier or toy, and the cloth falls off.
Just at that moment, that sweet, lovable baby on your shoulder erupts with reflux. You find yourself and the baby covered in moisture. You spend the next several minutes cleaning up the baby and yourself and probably the floor too.
With all the baby gear that exists to care for infants, why doesn’t a functional burp cloth for reflux exist to cover parents and caregivers? Is it so hard to make something that actually works, that actually guards parent clothing? These are the very questions our founder asked when her little son was in his early months. It turns out solving these problems is hard and has required years of research, testing, conversation, and innovation.
Making a functional and attractive burp cloth started with our founder putting her PhD research skills to work. Megan began collecting data on where reflux landed and dissected the pain points for why existing burp cloths lacked sufficient functionality. She learned when babies spit is unpredictable but where the spit lands is more predictable. The proprietary data on reflux locations was just the starting point.
From the beginning, the technology of CamelGuard has been grounded in designs that cover these frequent locations. After confidently identifying the physical locations needing coverage, CamelGuard founders tested designs and fabrics to create cloths that work. What separates CamelGuard from other burp cloths or nursing covers is the combination of physical design and fabric. Getting the design, drape, weight, softness, and absorbency just right has been years in the making.
We have taken care with every detail of the material, including the garment label. Have you ever had a scratchy label that drove you crazy? CamelGuard garment labels were commissioned only after they passed the “picky kid-test” to ensure the softest material, down to the label details, is what is touching the caregiver’s skin.
Patent-pending CamelGuard shields are paving the path of alleviating the spit-up problem for parents and caregivers. No longer do caregivers have to suffer a receiving blanket that falls off when leaning over or a burp cloth that covers a tiny part of the shoulder, and nothing else. CamelGuard shields stay put and cover where needed. They are the burp cloths that you have been looking for.
